In case you’re trying to plan and you want to find out when to schedule your next vacation, here’s a list that you would surely want to see : the list of all Regular Holidays and Special Non-Working Days in the Philippines for 2008!

Regular Holidays :

• March 20 : Maundy Thursday
• March 21 : Good Friday
• April 7 : Araw ng Kagitingan (Monday nearest to April 9)
• May 1 : Labor Day (Thursday)
• June 9 : Independence Day (Monday nearest to June 12)
• August 25 : National Heroes Day (Last Monday of August)
• December 1 : Bonifacio Day (Monday nearest November 30)
• December 25 : Christmas Day (Thursday)
• December 30 : Rizal Day (Tuesday)

Special Non-Working Holidays :

• August 18 : Ninoy Aquino Day (Monday nearest August 21)
• November 1 : All Saints Day (Saturday)
• December 26 : Additional Special Non-working Day (Friday)
• December 29 : Additional Special Non-working Day (Monday)
• December 31 : Last Day of the Year (Wednesday)

* Eidl Fitr (Feast of Fast-Breaking) would still be determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar, lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.

Am I the only one who thinks that the June 9 holiday (in lieu of June 12) should have been moved to June 13 instead? So it will be Friday-Sunday, no work? Same case with the August 18 holiday (in lieu of August 21), it should have been moved to August 22 instead so the holidays will fall from Friday (August 22nd) to Monday (August 25th) since the 25th is another holiday for the National Heroes. I mean, we move these holidays for long weekends, more time for rest and recreation yet it wasn’t planned strategically. Sayang! But I’m not complaining, hooray for Holidays! Haha! I think I know already when to plan our next HK trip! Yay yay!
